Thank you notes - Are they outdated? I've never seen the practicality of them. Just calling someone and thanking them if you really mean it seems a lot more pragmatic and meaningful to me. What do you think?

I think it depends on what you're used to... say you never talk a person on the phone but write, I think a note is sufficient then. If you talk to the person, deffinately call them.
